Short Day

Last summer we had a number of long driving days mostly because of distances between stops or time commitments.  The trip to Joshua Tree was going to be a pretty long drive for one day and we have no deadlines at all so we broke the drive in to two short days.  Other than dense fog in the southern valley the day was uneventful.  We are parked at the Palmdale Elks lodge.  It, like much of Palmdale seems to be somewhat economically challenged.  Good parking though and quiet.

A New Year

I finished my refresher tax training yesterday morning and tax season starts for us (AARP Tax Aide) the first of February.  Perfect timing for us to visit RV Mecca – Quartzsite!  And – the RV show starts this weekend.  If you don’t know about Quartzsite, Google it.  It is something every RVer (and many non-RVers) has to visit at least once.  Along the way we will visit another national park and then maybe go to the coast for a few days.  We’ll see what looks good.

We started mid-morning, got gas at Costco in Sacramento and then an easy drive down a rather busy Highway 99 to Visalia where we are parked at the Elks lodge for the night.  Large facility with over 20 RV spaces.  Pretty quiet too except for the yappy dog in the coach two spaces away.
