Out of Adirondacks and into Hyde Park

Nice drive out of the ‘mountains’ (high hills) and south along the Hudson River to Hyde Park.  Home to FDR and the Vanderbilt's.  Vanderbilt grounds and mansion is open for tours to show how the very wealthy lived.   Roosevelt grounds and buildings include house he was born and died in, presidential library, house where Eleanor lived after he died and other spots of interest as well as insights to their lives.  Good visit.

Found this gem in the state park where we camped just north of Hyde Park.  Note the plaque. Never know what you’ll come across.

Vanderbilt mansion. Grounds extend for 1/4 mile + in all directions with outbuildings for staff.  Gardeners, etc. lived in Hyde Park.
