No animals :(
We drove over 240 miles today and did not see any wildlife. A couple of ravens, that’s all. LOTS of very pretty country with constantly changing views. Thanks to the MILEPOST travel book we learned much about the sights we were seeing and some history of locations along the miles we traveled.
This is the longest bridge on the Alaska Highway
We got to Whitehorse about 3:00. Hooked up and then drove to town to get oriented. Located all the important stores (Walmart for milk). Off to the visitor center to get information on things to see and do. Tomorrow we will check out the list we got from the center.
We did see a couple of things this afternoon.
That is not just a display of one of the first commercial planes to fly the Yukon Territory although it is. It is also a weather vane! Yes, it swings into the wind. Very clever.
This is the worlds longest wooden fish ladder. Unfortunately it will not open for tourists until the run begins which is in several weeks.
