Scenic Drive to Surry
Our drive started with about three hours along a scenic but now less used portion of Canada Highway 1. Perfectly fine road but it is two lanes with passing lanes and twists and turns as it hugs the canyon wall as it follows the Frasier River. Very pretty. This section of the TransCanada Highway is now bypassed by a more direct freeway which gets all truck traffic and most auto traffic. Our gain.
The old road eventually joins the freeway and continues west to Vancouver.
About ten miles east of Vancouver is the sprawling suburb of Surry. That is where we stopped. We parked in the driveway of Sue’s college room mate and her family and spent the afternoon getting (re)acquainted and reminiscing.
