Into the inferno

Got up very early.  Earliest ever.  Left Granada Hills at 4:40am.  Freeways are pretty light at that hour Smile.  That was not our chief intent however.  Wanted to beat as much heat as possible.  Sort of worked.  After 2 1/2 hours of driving we stopped in Palm Desert to fill gas tank prior to heading into true desert.  The temperature at 7:15 was 95 degrees.  2 1/2 hours more and we were in Quartzsite, AZ.  Interesting spot to visit in the winter which we have done.  Not really where you want to spend the hottest day of the year.  We did plan this however.  Right amount of driving time.  RV park had some shade (part of the day) and power for A/C.   Have spent the day catching up on computing while sitting under A/C and in front of fans.  Two thermometers have indicated near 120 degrees outside, now dropping a few degrees.  Early start again tomorrow toward Flagstaff.  Higher elevation and hopefully lower temps.
