Comfort

What a difference a day (and 250 miles and gaining 7000+ feet) makes.

Left Quartzsite at 4:30 am.  Temperature – 90 degrees.  Headed east.  After about an hour the traffic began to get heavier and heavier the closer we got to Phoenix.  Eased up a bit when we took a loop freeway around the NW edge of the city.  Stopped at a Costco on the north edge of town to top off gas.  Temperature at 7:15 am – 97 degrees.  North out of Phoenix the road starts to climb gently at first and with several good climbs in the 120 miles to Flagstaff.  About 1 1/2 hours up the road you pass a sign that indicates 7000’ and still climbing.  Got to Flagstaff about 10:20.  Temp – 85 degrees.  Weather – partly cloudy.  Light breeze which felt cool (as opposed to blast furnace).  Campground is great.  Not the typical paved lot with rows of parking slots so narrow you can almost reach out and touch your neighbor.  Instead the camp spots are scattered over a large area of several acres that are filled with pine trees.  Huge spots with full hook ups and so many trees it almost feels like a forest service campground.  We signed up for two nights so we can spend a day just enjoying trees and comfortable outdoor temp.  Projected low temp tonight – 49 degrees.  Smile
